Alebtong District Council has ordered all film halls and Bars built near schools to be closed or face forceful demolition.

This followed a council sitting yesterday that came up with an ordinance awaiting approval from the Attorney General.

George Okello the District Speaker says there is plan to begin the implementation at a lower level because of the fear that government takes time to approve certain laws made by a local government unit.

In the ordinance passed by the district yesterday, Video Halls and Bars shall attract heavy punishment ranging from closure to arrest of proprietors for the much bigger threats it as posed to the education sector.

During a plenary session yesterday, it was discovered that majority of school going children were being attracted to film Halls and Bars and thus contributing to a bigger percentage of dropping out of school by the pupils.
